WHAT DOES BINNING RATES IN LED’s MEAN? Posted on 12 Oct 09:58

When LED’s are made, the manufacturer bins or separates them subsequent to a production run. The factory tests each LED light for specific characteristics such as luminous intensity, forward voltage, and optical wavelength or colour temperature. LED’s can have a low intensity binning rate, then graduate through to a high intensity binning rate. This is why it is extremely important to ensure you’re your LED’s have a high binning rate. Cheaper manufacturers offer low binning rate LED’s, whereas at Zombie we specify and use only LED’s with a high intensity binning rate, to ensure they are the brightest. Binning is the single most misunderstood aspect related to inaccurate values associated with lumen per dollar calculations.
